Stray dogs find lifeless abandoned baby on Thai roadside

Stray dogs found a dead baby that had been abandoned on side of the road.

The mutts started barking loudly at the mystery object hidden in the undergrowth which drew the attention of street sweepers.

They then discovered the lifeless in Bang khen district, Bangkok Thailand on Sunday, July 27 at dawn.

Nimnual Toonyod, 42, said she dragged the green plastic bag out of a bush and at first glance thought it was a dead puppy so she left.

But after returning to look again, she opened the package and found the baby wrapped in two layers of t-shirts and a black plastic bag.

Nimnual said: "I thought it over again and realised that the head of that dead thing I saw was not a puppy head, so I returned and opened the bag.

"Just like I had thought, it was a dead baby and it smelled so bad. I ran to the nearby gas station to get help."

The rescue team arrived with the police and examined the corpse before transferring it to a hospital for a post mortem examination.

Police Captain Kittikom Muenthong said: "The baby seemed to have died during self-delivery. The mother could have been nervous so she abandoned it. The baby had been dead for two days when it was found.

"We have already started an investigation by looking for some footage from CCTV around this area.''
