Train derails in India killing at least 7 and injuring many


Local villagers and officials rushed to rescue passengers after a train derailed on the early hours of February 3.

Nine coaches of the Delhi-bound Seemanchal Express derailed in Vaishali district of Bihar killing at least seven people and injuring many.

The train was running at full speed when the accident occurred at 3:35 am near Shahdei Buzurg railway station in Hajipur, officials said.

A team of doctors has rushed to the accident site and an accident relief train has also arrived for carrying out relief and rescue operations.

Many more bodies are feared to be trapped inside the train coaches.

The rescue operation is ongoing and the injured have been taken to local hospitals.

A local resident, Saroj, (featured in video) said: “We came running out of our homes after hearing that there was a train accident. We are trying to help passengers.”
